On June 10, INE released the specifications and concerning rules for the low-sulfur fuel oil (LSFO) futures contract.

On June 13 and 21, INE successfully organized two market-wide production system drills for LSFO futures.

On June 22, INE officially listed the LSFO futures for trading.

On October 12, INE introduced Trade at Settlement (TAS) orders to address market needs and improve market efficiency.

On October 15, SHFE subsidiary INE and Japan Exchange Group co-held the online INE-JPX Derivatives Market Forum. Mr. Lu Feng, Executive Vice President of SHFE, and Mr. Ichimoto Hiroyasu, Director and Senior Executive Officer of Tokyo Commodity Exchange and Osaka Exchange, attended the forum.

On October 23, the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) approved the launch of bonded copper futures contracts at INE, which was then listed on November 19, 2020. As a Specified Domestic Product, bonded copper futures will be traded on the basis of “international platform, net pricing, bonded delivery, and RMB denomination” to fully engage overseas traders.

On November 10, SHFE co-organized the Promotion Conference of the Integration of Oil and Gas Trading Market in the Region of Yangtze River Delta and Signing Ceremony for the Strategic Shareholding of Shanghai International Energy Exchange in Zhejiang Mercantile Exchange , held in Zhoushan, Zhejiang. SHFE Chairman Jiang Yan delivered a speech at the event.

On November 16, at the 2020 Energy Risk Conference and Energy Risk Asia Awards Ceremony hosted online by Risk.net, INE was honored as the “Commodities Exchange of the Year” by an international panel of judges due to its excellent performance this year.

On November 19, INE officially listed the bonded copper futures, which is the first futures product in China that is accessible to overseas investors through a “dual contract” model and the fourth international futures product listed on INE, after crude oil, TSR 20, and LSFO.

On November 26, SHFE co-hosted the Fuel Oil Industry Summit 2020 in Zhoushan, Zhejiang. The summit included a signing ceremony of cooperation intention between INE and PetroChina International for group delivery business of LSFO futures. Wang Fenghai, CEO of SHFE, attended and witnessed the signing ceremony.
